$5 Raspberry Pi Zero launched

Posted by Syed 26/11/2015 0 Comment(s) New Products, Tech & Maker Stuff,

Folks at the Raspberry Pi foundation released today a surprisingly ultra-low cost $5 Module called the Raspberry Pi Zero. It comes onboard with the same chipset BCM2385 found in the earlier B1/A+/B+ Models.

As per their announcement on the blog, the Raspberry Pi Zero features:

  • A Broadcom BCM2835 application processor
  • 1GHz ARM11 core (40% faster than Raspberry Pi 1)
  • 512MB of LPDDR2 SDRAM
  • A micro-SD card slot
  • A mini-HDMI socket for 1080p60 video output
  • Micro-USB sockets for data and power
  • An unpopulated 40-pin GPIO header
  • Identical pinout to Model A+/B+/2B
  • An unpopulated composite video header
  • Our smallest ever form factor, at 65mm x 30mm x 5mm

Folks at element14 have made a nice illustration of the Raspberry Pi Zero:

We're trying our level best to get it in stock for Indian Makers to buy the Raspberry Pi Zero online in India from our Store. We're as excited as you are to get our hands dirty with this board. Happy Tinkering :)
